TINA VEGA, Kumeyaay Indian Basketmaker

Tina Vega weaves coiled juncus baskets, basket hats and willow acorn storage baskets. She is known for her fine coiling. She is the daughter of the community's leader, Andres Vega. Her husband, Joaquin Montes is one of the only male basketweavers.

Tina lives in the Kumeyaay community of San Jose de la Zorra, Baja California.

This California Indian artist's work may be purchased at Shumup Ko Hup Indian store in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park.
