Daleane Adams, Kumeyaay, BIOGRAPHY
California Native American Indian GOURD ART
SHUMUP KO HUP is proud to feature the Native American California Indian Kumeyaay GOURD ART of gourd maker Daleane "Dee" Adams, Kumeyaay, Jamul Indian Village in San Diego County.
Dee Adams recalls being greatly influenced in her Native American gourd artwork by her Grandmother Isabel Thing's Kumeyaay gourd art, including the old vintage painted Kumeyaay gourd rattle pictured to the left, handmade and handpainted by.
Dee uses wood burning tools and leather dyes on the gourds to creat her unique contemporary Native American motifs design patterns. Dee says the designs she uses on her natural California gourds are inspired by petroglyphs, pictographs, local plants and animals, basketry and pottery. She does a variety of containers and vases as well as TRADITIONAL GOURD RATTLES used in Yuman style traditional bird singing.

Therefore, our listings, photos and prices are only representative of what we stock and what we have custom made.
